There will me Ayurvedic treatments and massages to settle you into your new mothering Self.

Newborn Care

The ride home from the hospital with your newborn may be the most obscure situation, as your senses are heightened. I am helping you with the first handling of your baby, washing, sleeping, breastfeeding and baby massage.

Deciding on postpartum care can be difficult before giving birth to your child, as you may not assess with what and how you need help with. Making a newborn plan is as relevant as a birth plan, to ensure the precious time for everyone in the family.

Why 42 days?

42 days for 42 years.

According to the 5,000 year old medical texts in Ayurveda by Sushrut, women are in a very special window for 42 days after childbirth.

They say that women are psycho-physiologically as delicate as their babies during this time, even if they can display all kinds of will-power, know-how, coordination, and devoted loving service.

After childbirth women have a lot of invisible work to do. And it is their biological mandate, their own Mother Nature’s program to restructure their whole physiology in the direction of greater ability to love and serve, if they give it the chance.

Many cultures have similar traditions to these 42 days of mothering focus. Choices now are maybe more significant than any other time in their lives, for the ability to mother, partner, and serve the world for the next 42 years.

It is also about how long it takes food to convert from initial digestion to all the tissues in the regenerative process. For the subtlest and deepest tissues, the reproductive, it takes up to 42 days – from eating a meal to rejuvenating that tissue.
